Ben Sher

Ben Sher is a veteran New York Jazz guitarist. Ben came into the public eye with several off his Brazilian jazz releases on BGI Records: TudoBem, and Please Take Me to Brazil. These recordings which featured Luciana Souza, Kenny Barron, Duduka da Fonseca and others, led to a steady Sunday engagement at the Blue Note in New York, and subsequently tours in Russia, Japan, and Europe. As a sideman, Ben played with Ball-in-the-Jack, recording two cd’s on the Knitting Factory label, and performing at the North Sea, Berlin and Marsala Jazz Festivals, and performed for five years with tommy Campbell’s group Vocal Eyes at New York venues Small’s, Smoke, and the Zinc bar. Ben has also done commercial work, touring with Ute Lempel and performing at the Montreux and Istanbul Jazz festivals, and touring in Brazil and Japan with productions of the rock opera Tommy.

Ben is a Professor at the Berklee College of Music where he teaches classes in Brazilian and Latin guitar styles and the guitar styles of Grant Green and Pat Martino. he’s currently performing with his New Organ Trio and the World Jazz Guitar duo.
