Doug Swanson is an American born musician, Humanitarian, songwriter and artist, sometimes called Dug Mug. Swanson is currently a in demand Nashville bass guitarist. He can also been seen on the hit ABC TV show "Nashville" as Monty Handsome.
Doug Mug Swanson grew up in Venice Beach California has played with some of the best in the Blues/Rock world, as well as having co-produced and played on numerous recordings. His accomplishments include performing at the 2004 Playboy Jazz Festival at the Hollywood Bowl. Performing with the Johnny Cash Family 2015 at the Family Ranch in Bon Aqua Tennessee backing up: Brother Tommy Cash, Sister Joane, Nephew Mark Cash and Johnny's only drummer for 30 years W.S. Fluke Holland. As stature of bassist in the house band at Babes and Ricky's Inn (L.A.'s oldest blues club) 1997-2003, having performed with some of the greats: Keb-Mo, Guitar Shorty, Joe Houston, Finis Tasby, Jackson Browne, Denny Freeman, Kirk Fletcher, Kid Ramos, Otis Taylor, Rick Holmstrom, Paul Oscher, Junior Watson, Scott Holt, James Gadson, Anson Funderburgh w/ Sam Myers, James Intveld, Dave Alvin, Zac Harmon, Vince Converse, Ry Cooder, Tommy Castro, Bart Walker, among others. Moreover he has appeared in ABC's hit TV show "Nashville" 2013-2014 as Monty Handsome in seasons 1-2-3 as well as appearing in Green Day's award winning video 1993, "Time of Your Life" Good Riddance. Performed at The Native American Awards w/ John Trudell, Floyd Red Crow Westerman and Toured Reservations throughout California.
Professionally toured Europe, Japan, Tahiti, Canada, Poland and the Caribbean Islands.
