The Guitar Trader buys, sells, trades, and consigns new and used quality instruments. While the main focus is on trading used instruments we do carry exclusive lines like Nash Guitars, Quilter Amplifiers, Reverend Guitars, and effects pedals by Henretta Engineering.

We strive to keep a great selection of new and used instruments. You’ll see some familiar brands like EXH, TC Electronics, and Fulltone in our selection of new effects pedals but our selection of used pedals can be a wide variety of brands.

When it comes to purchasing used guitars, amps, and effects we are usually the best offer in town. In most cases we will disclose to you what we are going to resale the item for and offer you a percentage.

Store credit for your item will get you as much as 75% of what we are going to resale the item for. Our consignment fees range from 20-30%.

About Us

Steven Eudy, Owner

I moved to Asheville in 2002 from Spruce Pine, NC so I’m “semi-local”. I moved here with the vision of becoming part of the music scene either as a performer or an instrument dealer. I have been very fortunate to do both! Asheville has been very good to me in supporting my growth as both a musician and a business owner.

I am grateful to the friends I have made along the way who have made this possible.

I did not start The Guitar Trader myself. I became friends with the previous owner, Steve, and purchased the shop from him in 2011. Steve was very helpful in helping learn to run the business.

I’ve definitely taken on my own way of doing things since then, but buying, selling, and trading have remained at the core of my work. I’m now starting to focus on expanding my business by offering new guitars, amps, and effects, but we will always be trading guitars at The Guitar Trader.
