Drew Schlesinger is a highly respected synthesist, sound designer, and composer with a career spanning several decades, recognized for his pioneering work in creating patches and presets for numerous synthesizers, effects, and software. Acquiring his first Moog in college, he honed his synthesis skills at the Boston School of Electronic Music. The advent of MIDI in the 1980s propelled his career, leading him to author a book on programming Casio CZ synths and create presets for over 200 products from more than 30 companies, including iconic sounds like "Crystal Echoes" and the "Black Hole" reverb for Eventide. An accomplished composer of electronica and ambient music, his early works are showcased on his "Lost Childhood" albums, and he collaborated with David Torn on "Summer Synthesis 1978." His contributions have been recognized with the Golden Knob Lifetime Achievement Award at Knobcon 2022, alongside his inclusion in NAMM's Oral History Series.
Name | Description |
---|---|
Elvis Left Here | Dance to that Jail House rock. A side gives you that vintage slapback clean while B is a hot screaming mess of greasy Elvis! |
Scarcrow Rocker | Dive into a mellow crunchy dry tone for pushing the guitar back in the mix. B side gives a cleaner but still gritty stew of awesome. |
I'm Gill More | Pretty sure that I just became comfortably numb. A is clean and B is THAT tone. You know, THAT tone! |
Distort-O-Matic | When you want a gentle vibey leslie type distortion. A and B are roughly same. |
Grunge Flange | A is a flangey tamed grunge monster. B is similar with less effects. |
Shakin N'Stirred | Try to turn your head fast enough to keep up with THAT Leslie effect! A has no Cab for a more acoustic vibe while B has a Cab for Electric. |
Dirty Mono Mod | Big and chunky tremolo. Both A and B are same. |
Wobbley Room | When you've had one too many and its time to go home. A large and pulsing Trem with a side helping of Reverb. |
Chorus Echo | The name says it all. Plug into that keyboard and thicken the stew! |
Panning TapeEcho | Which way did your tone go? With this preset you'll never know! |
Lush and Spacey | A massive wall of thick and juicy thickeners all seasoned well. |
In My Room | A very short and present patch. Just a little echo and reverb to make you sound close and personal but with ambience. |
Into The Void | Long repeating loops of luscious reveb, and echo. |
Seasick Doubler | When you want to thicken up the vibe and make an almost chemically unstable modulation. |
Sound On Sound | Endless loops of echo. You'll think you have entered into Willy Wonka's chocolate factory! |
Slow Swirl Pan | Clean slow panning modulation and reverb. Like the eye of the hurricane passing over quietly in the night. |
Bizyy Beehive | Zippy and fun. A long decay delay with crisp tight upper end. |
Church And Smear | Long hall reverb and long decay echo |
Old 70s Echoes | Kind of like an old tape echo with a weak erase head. |
Elevation Space | Thick and juicy reverb. Long decay and very warm evolution. |
Modulate Me Now | Thick and pulsing tone with hints of long decay reverb and a ping ponmg echo. Beam me up! |
Dimension Dee | The best part of modulation. A Detune doubler mixed with a tri chorus. Like a steak with a good glass of wine! |
Flangepan Echoes | Panned flanging echoes. Direct from very halls of Mordor! |
Flanger Hall | Modulation all the way down a warm dark hall. |
On The Stage | A subtle modulation. Good for stage work. |
Ekopannig Space | You won't be quite sure what Eastern Block era equipment was designed to make this auto panning preset. And the KGB won't allow us to tell you. |
Rat A Tat Tat's | Modulated long drawdown warm echo. Awesome for short stabs that need to keep rolling. |
Just ChorusFlng | Like the name says, Just Chorus and Flanger. |
The Void | If you could put a really loud amp overlooking monument valley in Yosemite. The Reverb would sound like this. |
The Old In Out | Pulsing all the way to zero. This flanged sound will give the entire a spectrum a sense of presence and warmth. |
Gated Verb Echos | Like the name says. Gated Reverb echoes. |
Enossification | When you want to slam the sound with thick modulation, warm echoes and a mellow verb. |
Just Air | An incredibly simple but very effective reverb. Just adds a little "air" to it. |
Neu Bright Hall | Big and bright open hall type reverb. |
Drew's Room | A room type reverb. Basic and uncompromising but surprisingly analog sounding. |
Big Garage | If your garage was more of a warehouse than an actual garage, this is your tone with a mic on the other end of it. |
Basic Synth Efx | Basic synth modulation and reverb. Great sounding patch while remaining subtle. |
Vibro Doubler | Thick vibrato run through a detune doubler. Just do it! |
Spacial Clusters | A thick repeating delay and ultra wide warm reverb patch. This should be the soundtrack to a space flick! |
Multimod Room | Multiple modulators in a tight room. |
In The Cave | A very beautiful and luscious spacious reveb with the lightest hint of delay. |
